If you're making a website, the first step is to find a reliable web hosting service. I'm not in the top ten services in the world (not even the top 1,000), but I am reliable and you will get a bespoke 24/7 service.
What Should I Look for in a Web Host?
When building a website for the first time, it's easy to get caught up in things like its appearance and style. Getting people to notice your site is something else that's sure to take up a lot of your time. Before you get too wrapped up in these matters though, you should dedicate yourself to finding the best web host possible for you. Without reliable web hosting, your site could experience frequent crashes, slow load times and other issues. The easiest way to find the best web host is by asking the following questions during your search.
Is There a Hosting Plan that Suits My Needs?
Different web hosts offer different hosting plans. Some have several plans while others have only a few options. To choose the right web host, you have to start by knowing what you need. Do you expect to have a lot of traffic? If so, you're going to need plenty of bandwidth. Will your site be simple and clean, or will it include a lot of videos, graphics and other elements? The answer to that question will clue you in to how much disk space you'll need. With this information in mind, it will be easier to see whether a web host has a plan that will work for you or not. I have no web host plans. I work to what you request.
Are the Plans Fairly Priced and Flexible?
In the beginning of your search for a web host, be mindful of the kinds of rates that are being charged. Mark those numbers down on a sheet of paper. You will develop a sense for what's fair and what isn't. Pricing isn't everything, though. The best price in the world isn't going to matter if the plan doesn't include the features you need. Furthermore, it's smart to sign up with a web host that offers flexible plans. If your hosting needs change, will the web host be able to accommodate you? Will you have to switch to a different web host? It's better to avoid that, so choose a host that has flexible, scalable plans. Ultimately I use Amazon cloud to create an environment that is suited to your needs. This is more than flexible. I change the configurations to meet your needs.
Is there such thing as Free Hosting?
Free hosting is possible, but you will always have to pay something in order to host a website. So for example, if you pay nothing for hosting you will need to pay for a website builder and domain registration. It’s just a different way of selling it – either you buy a hosting package and you get a free domain and site builder, or you go for free hosting and end up paying the same for the rest of the package. It’s best to go for hosting first as hosting companies provide hundreds of free apps & usually a free domain for 1 year, so you’ll save more than if you went for free webhosting. Expect honesty from me - I do not supply free hosting, and none of my services are free.
Will the Web Host Make My Life Easier?
There are plenty of bare-bones web hosting plans out there. For many people, such plans are more than enough. What if you have more specialized needs? For example, perhaps you are going to sell things online. In that case, you should restrict yourself to web hosts that offer e-commerce solutions. It's important to update a website regularly. Some web hosts make that easier to do than others. To cut to the chase, stick with web hosts that offer content management systems as well. With a decent CMS, you will be able to update your site with ease. I specialise in the Drupal CMS. That's it. That's all I do. Anything else, you don't want me.
What about Security?
When looking for a web host, security shouldn't be an afterthought. The last thing you need is for someone to hack into your site or for a crash to delete all of your data. Make sure that the web host you choose offers daily backups and user authentication. To eliminate the risk of having your domain snatched out from under you, look for a host that offers domain lock protection. The best web hosts clearly explain the security features that they have to offer, so don't settle for anything less. I do security, you can expect the best security here.
Will I be Able to Get the Support I Need?
This is a biggie. There are web hosts out there that have several excellent-looking plans. However, they are sorely lacking in the customer service department. You don't want to be left hanging if something goes wrong. When you need help with something, you should be able to get it quickly and easily. As far as customer service and support go, insist on 24/7 support and support by chat, email and phone. I am a one man band. Sometimes I sleep (rarely) and I also have a day job - but you will have my personal mobile phone number and skype IM, and I will answer it, or your voice mail within 24 hours.
